Ever wonder being a cake decorator, what type of cake would you want to receive on your birthday?
This has been a question I have been asking myself.. but never get a answer. After being a cake decorator, I have no more birthday cakes to celebrate as many of my friends would reckon I will and can bake cake for myself. To be honest, I don't. I always feel that is funny to bake and decorate my own birthday cake. So, for these few years I have no cake on my birthday.
So as usual, birthday is just another day, I normally will just be a couch potato for a day. Strangely, hubby keep arranging me to go shopping with my sis. He even went all the way out to arrange us to have lunch and tea after. Well, I thought that's pretty nice thought. OK, I have to take the offer, why not? Since everything is paid for.
I went home pretty late, and when I opened the door, I was overdose with the smell of chocolate! I was thinking I am out the whole day and who can be baking in my kitchen. I quickly hurried to the kitchen thinking could it be I have accidentally leave the oven switch auto on....When I stepped into my kitchen, I am surprised with a cake bake by hubby. The cake was pretty nicely laid on the table. I have no idea how he can bake without my knowledge. Looking at his masterpiece, I am speechless!
Thou is not a decorative cake, I am happy enough that he put in effort to make me one. I think this has to be my best birthday cake ever. Thank you darling!I feel so blessed.

A lesson with Handi Mulyana
Seriously I am getting gaga over the Topsy Turvy Cake I did over the weekend with Handi Mulyana! He has been such a great cake instructor! Not only that, he is a fun guy. We giggled so much during the class, making fun of the sweets, donuts, cake pop, cookies we did to be put on the cake.
After working through 2 days of hard work, here's my masterpiece!

Porsche is another class I did while I am with him. Before the class, I always feels that doing 3D cakes was never a pleasant job. Indeed, there were so much mess doing the curving from a round cake, smash them up a little, patching up a little, and woo-hoo, not to mention the garnaching.... messy messy!!! But alas, after the "world war 2" I called it, here's my master piece.
Not forgetting... photo-taking session!

I am a busy bee in March
Today is my hubby's birthday. Making figurines can be time cosuming and tedious and detailed!!!
And so, since I have to make 2 more other cakes for my beloved sister and niece, so I cut it short by "chopping" off the golfer's leg, as such having him to stick to the grass "pretending he is being stuck" action!!!
Happy Birthday my darling! Love you always!

Hubby's cake
And so, after rushing for hubby's cake, next up - my sis turn! I reckon I always love to challenge myself, figurine is one, and again, drying time is necessary for sugar flowers. And this time, I have to quickly dry all the peonies flowers in a day, and quickly assemble them in a stalk for the following day. I pray for no hipcups, no mistakes, and most importantly no breakage! (yes, no no as I don't have extras to put it back on!!!)
After struggling through, and ta-da.... Yellow Peony Birthday Cake!
Sister's Cake
Last but not least... this time, easy peasy... The Present Box Cake!
